I had the extreme pleasure of reviewing a Hoover TwinTank™ Steam Mop. It couldn't have come at a better time. We had just purchased a new house with hardwood floors and stone floors as well as carpet, and I wanted to thoroughly clean the home before we moved in. I have never had a home with hardwood floors or stone floors and I really wasn't sure how to clean them properly. I was very excited to try the Hoover TwinTank™ Steam Mop because it claimed to work on all surfaces.
Putting it together was very simple. I liked the very long 30 ft cord. My vacuum doesn't even have a cord that long! It made it so much more efficient for me to clean since I didn't have to stop every so often and find another outlet. I loved that. The machine also powered up quickly and was fully heated in less than a minute. That was nice. I thought that with the twin tanks, one full of water and one full of Hoover cleaning solution, that the machine would be heavy, but it was surprisingly lightweight. The tank was very efficient. I was able to clean multiple rooms without having to stop and fill it up again. It is also very quiet, which I like. The tanks were removable for very easy dumping and refilling which was also a plus.
It cleaned better than any machine I've ever used. I have a carpet steam cleaner that we paid a lot of money for, and the Hoover TwinTank™ Steam Mop got stains out of the carpet better than I've ever experienced. I also loved the Carpet Glider for ease of use on the carpets. Other steam cleaners I've used didn't have that attachment and the pads would come off and it would be very difficult to push along the carpet. Cleaning the hardwood floors and stone was so easy. I felt everything, especially the kitchen and bathrooms, was disinfected and truly clean. I loved the triangle shape of the mop head. I was able to get all around the toilets (I usually do that by hand) and along all the baseboards. I knew it was cleaning by the look of the pads as they were filthy when I was done. They are machine washable which I really like, because I won't have to buy replacement pads very often.
It is a compact steam mop so storage was very easy. It also recommended, like other steam mops, that you not let it sit in one place as it cools down because it could damage the floor, but unlike every other steam mop I've ever used, I used the included docking tray to sit it on while it cooled down, so no worries about that. Very nice!
The only thing I would change about this steam mop is that I wish it would come with more pads for the hard floors. It came with 1 for hard floors and 2 for carpet, and although I will use it on carpet for spot cleaning and refreshing from time to time, I will mostly use it for my hard floors as I have stone and hardwood floors throughout my entire main floor and 5 bathrooms all with stone tile floors. I will definitely purchase more pads for that reason, but I wish it had come with 2 for hard floors and 1 for carpet instead.
All in all, I was extremely pleased with the product and it's performance. I hate mopping and having to deal with a bucket and wringing out the mop, so I don't do it very often. This product was so great to use, that I'm sure I will be cleaning a lot more often than I was, which makes me feel really good.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a steam mop!
