Use these to inexpensively enhance a meal. Think adding “bulk” to a meal this psyches out the brain thinking it is getting more food, instead it is getting more nutrition and less portion of food:
Salsa:
Muir Glen Organic Tomatoes
¼ Pineapple finely chopped
¼ Jalapeno (deseeded)
3 garlic cloves finely smashed
4 hard dashes of Italian seasoning
Marina Sauce:
Muir Glen Marinara
Enhance with veggies:
Yellow bell pepper, Muir Glen Tomatoes, 1 garlic clove smashed, baby bellas (mushroom)
At Breakfast time:
add to Oatmeal (whole Foods bulk is 1.19 per pound – great way to save money)
Add: flaxseed (bulk) or Bob’s Red Meal Flaxseed meal
Add: natural Peanut Butter or almond butter
Add: Quinoa (cook like rice and add to Oatmeal or add to oatmeal 2 tbsp already cooked quinoa to oatmeal then cook)
Add: blueberry and almond (crushed ½ tsp) – brain power
Add to Pancakes “bulk”
Quinoa, buckwheat flour, flaxseed meal/ seed, oatmeal and use less pancake mixture… adds more fiber
A fun idea: take a banana squish it and make it smoothe, spread like “butter” because you will not use butter or syrup, in between the layers of pancakes and drizzle with local honey
Dessert:
Newman O’s “oreo cookies” add as a topping to Oikos Yogurt
Or
Add Newman O’s to the bottom of a pan and add yogurt ice cream on top like a “yogurt pie” add fruit toppings such as blueberries, strawberries, raspberries from the produce area (that are on sale) like strawberries are on sale this week. 2/$7
Dinner idea:
“Fried” Chicken
Take chicken and dip in a whipped 2 egg whites or 1 egg and then shake around in a bag with crushed Maple Buckwheat Arrowhead Cereal
Bake and serve over spinach salad or brussel sprouts
Brussel Sprouts : cook with olive oil and applewood bacon pieces & garlic – yum!
Lunch:
The easiest thing on the planet is to have leftovers
If you have hashbrowns for breakfast, then add shrimp to the skillet and heat it up and have Shrimp Browns
IF you have tacos for dinner have taco salad for lunch
Tacos:
Use the Smart Ground Tofu as a meat substitute, tofu takes on the properties of what you season it with so either the taco seasoning that you get or the combo of: cumin, cayenne, chili powder, Italian seasoning, garlic, onion into the skillet. What is easiest: tofu cooks best with water so no oil here… Use instead: deseed stoplight peppers to add “oil” when you add the 2 cups of water down through the tofu. Add the peppers and seasoning and allow everything to cook down.
Serve with cheese: which ever you prefer like feta or Mexican cheese … remember mozzarella has a salty taste, so watch that idea
Eggs for lunch:
Egg nachos same base above add nachos (cheese on top of nachos and eggs on top of that with Muir Glen Organic Salsa mixture you put together ). Suggestion, leave some out that does not have the pineapple so you can use it later on eggs, etc. for a fat-burning meal delight
Soup:
Boring soup to fun colorful soup:
Take the Imagine Soup, Butternut Squash and add Roasted Red Pepper on top
To make your own Roasted Bell Pepper – cut up in quarters and broil in oven or boil in water for a quick second on the stove.
Slice small and put over the Soup for a colorful nutritious meal
Earth’s Best Frozen Waffles:
Take the banana spread for the kids.
Take the frozen 365 blueberries and smash a few and use as a spread too
Seeds of Change Rice:
Add to the side – remember it’s a carb so not so much 1/8c is all you need… it will go a long way!
Add the peppers, garlic, edamame (frozen section) to the rice
Add any protein: steak, chicken, shrimp, tilapia to dish
